It offers huge payment gateway support and point‑of‑sale hardware, but it requires more setup and technical skills. For a creative like John, Shopify felt like wearing a stiff suit to paint a mural.

    Squarespace, meanwhile, is a website builder that added e‑commerce later. Its drag‑and‑drop editor and guided setup make it hard to “break” your site.

    You can drag galleries, text and product blocks anywhere using the Fluid Engine grid, and product pages support videos, forms, related products and even 360‑degree images.

    For John, this meant he could tell the story behind each talisman, embed forging or process videos and sell his crystal jewelry and future digital guides without installing any extra apps.
