Brace Yourself… I’m Coming Out of the Spiritual Closet

Personal

I had a client some time ago who used to assert that his alternative therapy services were entirely scientific and had nothing to do with “woo-woo.”

Having a medical background, he dedicated his life to a very peculiar kind of somatic work that truly helps people heal physically. But he hated to even think that there was something woo-woo about working with movement awareness, even though the method lacks scientific evidence.

I realize now that it was no coincidence that we attracted each other. I wasn’t yet ready to show up as my true self, with the woo-woo side included. Instead, I was timidly peeking out of the closet, waiting for the right moment.

I grew up a total atheist, with a highly skeptical engineer dad and an anti-clerical grandma. The story of how I became woo-woo isn’t linear, nor it’s a script for an Oscar-winning movie.

In fact, it’s rather messy…

There were many smaller ‘awakenings’ instead of one big a-ha moment.

When I was a teen, my Mom got depressed, and I think it was in therapy that she developed an interest for alternative healing and all things spiritual. Suddenly, our home got filled with self-help, personal growth, and spirituality-themed books – soul therapy, yoga, ayurveda, karma, law of attraction, chakra healing, you name it. I was skeptical, to say the least, and heavily influenced by my down-to-earth dad who made fun of all that.

The first time I actually started believing there was some more beyond this tangible reality was during my stay in Colombia. I spent there nearly 3 months, breathing magical realism, witnessing weird synchronicities, and befriending locals who were deeply in touch with their spiritual side. What would seem nonsensical in Europe, in Colombia it made total sense.

The next step to embracing my spirituality was meeting with a numerologist. A friend of mine had talked about her a few years before, but I had to hit rock bottom to finally feel ready. After running an insurance business that ruined my mental health, getting into trouble with justice for being too naive, a few more career shifts, cleaning included, and having moved 8 times in a year, I felt I had enough karmic lessons and finally was ready to move on. What was there to lose? So, I took a leap of faith and reached out to her.

It was quite revealing.

Pieces of the puzzle suddenly fell into their places. There was no way for me to succeed in insurance, I just completely ignored my intuition. But I wasn’t meant to be an employee either. I meant to be on my own, doing something creative and tech related. She corrected my numerological profile and did some pendulum hocus-pocus that worked.

Life became more tolerable as I felt less resistance.

I slowly began to see the results of what I was doing. I made more money in a year than in my whole previous life and truly enjoyed the process.

The final turning point is actually quite recent. It’s where I let go of the doubts that were still creeping around. Have you ever heard of Neville Goddard’s ladder experiment? If not, I’ll just summarize the idea to make sure you follow me. It proves our manifestation capacity and it’s an amazing tool to get rid of your skepticism.

Three nights in a row you have to imagine yourself in full detail how you climb a ladder – seeing it in first person. Then the next 3 days you stick post-its with “I will not climb a ladder” written on them all around, and read them every time you see them. Within a few days, you should get your ladder.

So I did.

Well, I didn’t follow it 100% because I skipped the notes, so my husband wouldn’t think I’m completely nuts. After two days of affirming, I just got distracted and forgot about it.

The result was mind-blowing.

It was curious how my ladder would find me, as it’s winter and I spend most of my time at home with my baby. I don’t have a ladder myself. But about two weeks after I did the experiment, I felt the urge to do the shopping at the nearest supermarket which I usually avoid. And there it was.

I saw my ladder waiting for me in the chocolate section.

And then I saw another one in the beverage section.

And then, a third one appeared in the pasta section.

I paid for the groceries and went back to the car. I put the bags in the trunk and turned around…

A fourth ladder, bigger than any of the previous ones, was exposed as on sale at the door of the DIY store. I didn’t take shots of the first three, but I took a picture of this one to keep this memory and look at it whenever I have doubts again.

Within two weeks, I manifested FOUR LADDERS. If I can do this, what else am I capable of??

I don’t care if people think I’m woo-woo, and you shouldn’t either.

So, there you have it. From a skeptic to a spiritual believer, it’s been a messy, non-linear journey. But I wouldn’t have it any other way. It was an essential step in my spiritual and personal growth.

By coming out of the closet and embracing our spiritual side, you allow yourself to live a more fulfilling life. You magnetically attract clients who resonate with who we really are and you let the people who align with our values find and recognize you.

This is the safest time in history to share your true self with the world.

Your voice matters, and when you speak from the heart, you not only free yourself, but you also inspire others to do the same.

I get it, sometimes it can be scary to reveal your deepest thoughts and feelings. But let me tell you, the world needs your light, your love, your unique perspective. So, take a deep breath, let go of fear, and let your soul speak.

And if you happen to be in a spiritual closet, or if you’re holding back because you’re afraid of being judged, know that you’re not alone. But I’m sending you love and courage to step into your truth and share it with the world. When one woman rises, she makes the path brighter for all of us.

So, let’s trust the universe, embrace our authentic selves, and watch the magic unfold.
